A movement of disciple making disciples

Nightstop is a national service that provides accommodation in volunteers’ homes to young people in an emergency situation who need a temporary place to stay.  South Worcestershire Nightstop covers the Worcester, Malvern Hills and Wychavon districts.

Mr and Mrs N from St Peter’s Baptist Church are Nightstop hosts. Here they tell us a bit about their experiences of being hosts.

“We take in a young person once every five or six weeks. When they arrive we show them their room, offer them a cup of tea and tell them what time dinner is. They usually only stay one night, but a few stay for two nights. The young people often chat about their past and their problems. They are grateful that someone is taking an interest in them.

“Being a host isn’t onerous. There are people out there who are desperate. They are all so grateful that somebody is willing to open their home for them.”

South Worcestershire Nightstop is currently looking for volunteers to offer a room for up to three nights to a homeless young person. To find out more about becoming a Nightstop host please email the project co-ordinator at cwoolford@festivalhousing.org .
