I’m writing this as I prepare for a holiday. Recently, I decided I needed just a few new clothes to take with me. A good friend offered to come shopping with me. We had a morning of fun.  Finding something that both fits you and suits you if not always easy. However, having a friend with you who, just by a quizzical look or a raise of an eyebrow, makes you think twice about a choice of garment is helpful.   My friend also sometimes asks me to try on clothes that I would not usually consider. I came home with several new items ready to be packed.

Today I thought to myself ‘you should have bought a cake’.  I arrived home to find another friend had left me a delicious muffin in my kitchen. She thought of my need before I did. A third friend will be following my travels on the internet. I am very blessed to have such good friends.

It made me think of how God knows and understands us. He does not need to follow us on the internet. He knows us and is with us. He also accepts us just as we are; but sometimes he challenges us to leave our comfort zone and try something new. He knows what we need and provides for us.  This provision is not always in the way we expect.  God does not let us down.  I give thanks for my friends.  I also have the privilege of knowing that God is my friend. He will never leave nor forsake me. He also provides a quality of life that is immeasurably more than I could imagine.

Is God your friend? He wants to be.
