Introduction

Hi, my name is Simon and i am passionate about living in a clean, nature rich and healthy world. My interests range from science and technology, history and archaeology, astronomy, live music and clean energy infrastructure.

My enthusiasm for wanting to reduce the waste and pollution I generate led Andy to ask me to be the Eco lead at St Peter’s Baptist Church, which I was very glad to accept.

Here at St Peter’s we are very keen to reduce our impact on the environment. We generate and use our own electricity from our large solar photovoltaic array. We are keen on recycling and sourcing local organic foods for our coffee shop. We have partnered with A Rocha to encourage the congregation and wider community to consider ways to safeguard and improve a healthier and mo sustainable lifestyle which also encourages bio-diversity. Why? – we believe that God the creator has gifted us this world and it’s resources and has placed the duty of care upon us. So let’s get creative and do things better.

I have always loved walking and discovering the wildlife around us. I also enjoy exploring landscapes and how we humans have left our marks upon it …….i am equally thrilled to see Bronze Age burial mounds or modern wind turbines.

In recent years I have become more aware of how my daily living habits can adversely effect the environment and I began a journey of living more sustainably. I soon discovered that I do not need to sacrifice lifestyle comforts I just need to choose cleaner and greener options. Did you know that there are zero plastic musical festivals set in organic farming estates with a large programme of eco-talks?

I am excited by the multitude of new technologies and ancient practices that are being discovered, or re-discovered, which can enable us to have a lighter impact on our world and I am keen to share this with you.

Eco Business Review

Pack It In

Pack It In is a fantastic shop were you can buy all the things you need from domestic cleaning products, health and beauty , living wildflower greeting cards, beans, grains, nuts, seeds, bread, gluten free foods, herbs and spices and much more.

Everything is ethically sourced and as sustainable as possible.

You can take your own containers to fill with the wonderful produce and avoid single use packaging.

The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and also keen to help you. There is a calm, relaxed atmosphere within the shop which can be found within the Old Market Hall in The Shambles Worcester.

Why not take a look at the product review section for my favourite buy (so far).

Since discovering “Pack It In” my non-recyclable rubbish has reduced from three large bin bags a fortnight ( for a household of four adults) to between half of one bag to a full bag.

Eco Product Review

Zero Waste Path

Having used a well established proprietary anti-dandruff shampoo for many years I was surprised when my wife brought home a Zero Waste Path 2 in 1 shampoo bar from Pack It In Worcester. I was sceptical that this would be of any use, however, with the first wash i was convinced.

I find the results to be more effective than my previous brand and my hair stays cleaner longer meaning less water consumed and more pennies saved.

I have been using the same  shampoo bar since April 2022 ( two or occasionally three times a week) and I have approximately half a bar left to use. In the same period I would usually use at least two or three bottles of shampoo.

When you consider the small size of this product with it’s smaller carbon footprint for shipping and zero plastic packaging it is a win win.

A win for the environment and a win for the wallett.
