World Mission

We feel passionate as a church to partner with brilliant organisations across the world, supporting them financially as well as in prayer and sending out members of our congregation. Below are just some of our mission partners.

CSW
CSW
Eden Care has been a missional ministry of St PeChristian Solidarity Worldwide (CSW) specialises in advocacy for religious freedom. It works on behalf of those persecuted for their Christian and other religious beliefs or lack of national faith belief.  Their guiding principle is to:

“Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.” – PROVERBS 30 VS 8-9 [NIV]

CSW gathers and verifies information to report to and challenge governments to change laws, behaviours and policies. It trains, equips and empowers networks of partners, human rights defenders and communities in over 20 countries across Africa, Asia, Latin America
and the Middle East, with many national offices across the globe. Its ‘consultative status’ as a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) at the United Nations actively engages to:-
 Enable policymakers to stand up for Freedom of Religion or Belief
 Encourage those being persecuted for their religion or Belief.
 Campaign for those suffering false imprisonment, persecution and torture.
 Pray for the Persecuted, those defending them, and the safety of all those involved around the world.

St Peter’s Baptist Church supports CSW financially, through prayer and through sending Christmas cards to those imprisoned for their faith. The church’s ambassador, Kim Stansfield, can be contacted for further information at:-

Love Russia
Love Russia

SPBC has supported Love Russia since 2006. Teams have travelled to Russia to provide summer camps for children in orphanages, and to support the Women’s Crisis Centre and a Pastor with love for the local community. SPBC continues to provide prayer and financial support to Love Russia whose Christian partners in Russia work with the marginalised to restore lives impacted by domestic violence, addiction and poverty. The Crisis Centre is for women wanting to be free of addiction or violent partners and also care for their children; usually, women have to give up their children to an orphanage while they detox. This Centre provides stability, caring surroundings, Christian counselling and Bible study. The women detox, learn to care for their children and themselves, find faith,
and break the cycle of addiction and chaotic life-styles. This project grows dramatically. There is a parallel Men’s Crisis Centre guiding them to rehabilitation, reconnection with families, a relationship with Christ and empowering them to contribute to the community. Support Groups provide consistency, care and stability, fun activities and educational support for vulnerable children; and, for orphaned young mothers, teaching life skills.

Love Russia’s newsletter is available at church.

Open Doors
Open Doors

The ministry of Open Doors has its origins in one man and one journey. In 1955, a young Dutchman went to Warsaw and discovered the existence of a persecuted church. He became known as Brother Andrew, and from 1955 to 1967 he travelled throughout Eastern Europe, delivering Bibles, encouraging persecuted believers, and inviting others to help him.

In 1967, God’s Smuggler was published. The book tells of Brother Andrew’s life and experiences as a follower of Jesus whom God asked to take His Word to His people in places in Eastern Europe where authorities were actively opposed to their faith.
The impact of that book catapulted Brother Andrew to worldwide renown. An entire generation caught the vision of supporting the persecuted church.

In the seven decades since Brother Andrew’s first journey, Open Doors has continued to seek out and strengthen the persecuted church. In more than 70 countries worldwide Christians risk their lives to follow Jesus. Open Doors supports them by supplying Bibles, providing emergency relief and helping persecuted believers stand strong for the long-term. In the UK and Ireland, Open Doors helps the church to pray, give and speak out for those who share our faith but not our freedom. St Peter’s Church supports Open Doors through regular prayer and via financial support.

BMS
BMS

St Peter’s Church support the charity Baptist Missionary Society (BMS) world mission in their ministry through regular prayer and financial support. BMS world mission mobilises people, resources and skills across the Global Church to share the good news of Jesus and provide practical aid and hope where they’re needed most. You can read more about their 3 key areas of ministry on their website: https://bmsworldmission.org/our-ministries

Louise and Peter Lynch joined BMS to work as mission workers in Bangladesh in 2018 and as a church we have partnered with them. Louise and Peter work alongside the leaders of the Bangladesh Baptist Church Sangha (BBCS). They use their skills in training, teaching and pastoral care. They help BBCS to train their outreach workers and to launch the Baptist Mission Training Centre to equip
Bangladeshi believers to share the Gospel and culture churches. Louise and Peter are also visiting faculty at the College of Christian Theology Bangladesh (CCTB). In total they spend close to 3 months a year at the college teaching a variety of courses. They also support the work of SHED which is the Social, Health, Education and Development wing of BBCS.

We are delighted to welcome Louise and Peter into our church family here at St Peters. We regularly update each other, pray for one another and encourage each other on. We are doing this through sharing updates and prayer requests at Sunday service, video conference calls, through email, WhatsApp and have linked Louise and Peter to a life (house) group.
We love hearing their latest news about how God is using them to lead others to faith in Christ and the abundant life he provides and are encouraged as we hear how God answers prayers!

Louise and Peter also post regular prayer letters on the BMS website. You can sign up to have these emailed to you. See the link: https://bmsworldmission.org/lplynch
